There are also 180 miles of trails open to horseback riders and bicycles can travel along any paved route. Four campgrounds offer many places for guests to spend the night, but the park is quite popular so make reservations in advance if possible. Located along the northwestern edge of the state, the park stretches between Staunton and Front Royal, seeing heavy traffic year-round but especially during fall when the leaves are dramatically changing colors.
